K-State Makes FINALS at KCACTF…Times 3!!!!

By January 20, 2016KCACTF, News, Conferences

Congratulations to our THREE KCACTF Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship finalists:

Mallory Diekmann (with partner Noah Lindquist)

Darrington Clark (with partner Gabby Browne)

Sam Massey (with partner Noah Lindquist)

What does this mean?

In our region (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota), over 300 actors from participating colleges were nominated based on their performances in college productions.  They chose partners to compete with them for a chance to win a scholarship and to go to the Kennedy Center in the spring to take workshops and make connections to professional theatre artists.

From 300 competitors, ALL K-State participants were selected in the group of 64 semi-finalists. Tonight, Mallory, Darrington, and Sam have made it to the final round of 16 competitors. They perform for the whole conference on Friday night in Minneapolis, MN, when the winner will be chosen.

K-State has a long history of success at KCACTF, including the last two years- in 2015, Cat Huck made it to the finals.  In 2014, Elise Poehling made it to the finals. But three?!  This has to be a record!

And remember, Blake Cordell is the region’s winner for playwriting for his new musical, INN-DEPENDENT.

From snowy Manhattan, we are so proud of ALL OF YOU!
