Arex Award Nominations

So far these are the nominations for the Arex Award:

I nominate Kelli Young for the Arex Ehrsam Award. As an upperclassmen, I have had the pleasure of watching Kelli develop and grow as an artist and collaborator over the past four semesters. She is dedicated, organized, and encouraging to others which is evident in the work she has put into K-State Theatre on and offstage.

I nominate Darrington Clark for the Arex Ehrsam Award.  Darrington has an outstanding work ethic, and the amount of work he puts into each role pushes his fellow cast members to do the same. His uplifting spirit is infectious to his peers and his attitude has encouraged other members of K-State Theatre time and time again to be their best.

Kelsey Coffroth has been an asset to the department for the years that she has been here. Performing in many shows, she was always a presence in the department. As the KSTO treasurer for this year she has worked tirelessly to ensure that the student raised money was properly documented and has helped with the transition from Tap to KSTO. She is one of the kindest and most compassionate people I have ever worked with. She takes a genuine interest with the people she is cast with and pushes those around her to their best as she strives for her own. Kelsey embodies what it means to be a K-State theatre student with her tireless dedication to the department and her genuine care and interest in everyone in this department.

PLEASE SEND ADDITIONAL NOMINATIONS TO vellenga@ksu.edu by Wednesday, May 6th.  The guidelines are:

Arex Ehrsam was a former K-State student who was greatly dedicated to his involvement to the
Theatre Department as well as the K-State Players before his premature death in 1987 at the age of 24.

In his honor, the Theatre Department annually gives the Arex Award to a student. This award is based upon
nominations by the students. The award of $100 and his/her name engraved on the Arex plaque (located in the lobby of Nichols Hall) will be presented to a student who has shown through their participation in theatre technical, management, performance, and/or design) their dedication, loyalty, and support of the Department of Theatre at KSU. The Arex Award seeks to embody spirit whilst remembering Arex’s participation and support of the Theatre Program at Kansas State University. It is our hope that the process the KSU Theatre Students go through to designate this honor will be as important as the actual award. It can be a time to reflect on what we consider valuable and admirable in the students that work in this program.

There are many worthy candidates. Please, take the time to write a few words for someone you think is deserving of this award. The nominator will remain anonymous when the paragraphs are posted.
